The Chairman of the Cyprus Property Developers Association, Mr. Yiannis Misirlis, is participating in the Build Europe Conference, taking place in Gdansk, Poland, from June 11 to 13.

As part of the Conference, Mr. Misirlis delivered a presentation on the current state of the real estate and construction sector in Cyprus, highlighting both the challenges and the prospects of the industry.

During his presentation, he noted: “The real estate and construction sector is one of the main pillars of the Cypriot economy, contributing 15% to the country’s GDP and employing over 40,000 people.”

He also referred to the key challenges the sector is currently facing, including licensing delays, workforce shortages and the housing problem. As housing affordability remains a pressing issue for both Cyprus and the European Union, discussions around this challenge remained high on the agenda during the Conference.

Concluding his presentation, Mr. Misirlis emphasized: “We continue to collaborate with the authorities and all key stakeholders to address today’s challenges—laying the foundations for a sustainable, innovative, and prosperous future for Cyprus.”

The conference also features networking opportunities and discussions with key stakeholders from across Europe’s real estate market, as well as the representative of the European Commission’s recently formed Housing Committee, Mr. Matthew Baldwin.
